Good!!! We don't need more troops. Just send them home
Redemption for his past sins??? It could happen.....
I think our American arrogance is showing again. Why don't we just ask the Iraqi's to hold a vote on whether they want us to leave or not? We want them to use that newly created democratic muscle, don't we? It's their country, they should be deciding this, not us.
Please, spare us another Republican Senator going on television and declaring their opposition to one of Bush's hairbrained ideas. Then going back on their word and agreeing with everything he(Bush)says. To name a few,Arlen Specter,John Mccain,Lindsey Graham,John Warner,Chuck Hagel Trent Lott and on and on.These people have no creditibility whatsoever. Why do you continue to allow them air time??
I voted for Bush, twice. He's out of control; his "surge" is completely pigheaded and wrong. If he insists on his "surge", he SHOULD be Impeached! America: One Nation, Under Surveillance That's OK, I Wasn't Using My Civil Liberties Anyway
My hat's off to you, Senator Lott, for carefully considering whether or not to vote to send more troops to Iraq. After the death of more than 3,000 Americans, and the physical and psychological maiming of many thousands more, it doesn't make a lot of sense to put more of our soldiers into proven danger on the roadways, alleyways, and deserts of Iraq. Whatever we do, let's make safety for the troops already in Iraq America's priority. Let's start thinking about our soldiers first. Jim Murray (Honorable Discharge U.S.M.C.)
we as americans are witnessing the most dishonest and corrupt administration in the history of our nation. We have been lied to so many times that we are complacent to the point of being brain dead.
I believe a civil war might be the right thing for the Iraq people. I seem to remember another great country called the United States of America having a civil war an it seemed make it. Remove our troops out of harms way an let them fight it out. The Senator has the right idea, finally the Republican Party speaks.
Sure, let's have 20,000 more troops; led into battle, like days of yore, by their commander-in-chief. But what a waste of our finest young men. Ever hear of Custer's last stand? George Washington a former, noted commander-in-chief did it and my great,great,great,... grandfather Hershman was in his boat.
I only hope more begin to know that it is wrong to send our great soldiers into this senseless war that was founded on deceit and was not "war-as-a-last-resort.
I think all the republicans and anyone else who gave President Bush a rubber stamp and never spoke out on questionable ideas should resign. If they had spoke up sooner we probably would not be in this mess he (President Bush) calls a "War on Terrorism".
Our nation's values and ethos are in peril. It appears that we are gradually moving to a police state as the "great decider" jeopardizes the future of our Democracy. Meanwhile back at the ranch; National Guard troops at an observation post near the Mexico border were forced to flee a group of armed people, who later ran into Mexico.
I think he covered himself for going either way on this issue. I think 20,000 more troops will be like 1 ant on an ant hill. The President got us into this mess and needs to do something. All these top level meetings of late couldn't have ended up with a solution of 20,000 more troops. If the past secrecy of this administration is any indication we haven't been told the whole story and probably won't be told.
Democrats and moderate Republicans were sent a very clear message on November 6th, 2006. Americans are fed up with the war in Iraq. They are fed up not just because that nation is spinning out of control, corruption is rampant, U.S. casualties are mounting each month, records amounts of future taxpayer dollars are being wasted, the conflict has eclipsed the amount of time the United States fought in World War 2, but also because Americans realize we were lied to about the reasons for invading Iraq in the first place. The fact that Iraq has the second largest proven oil reserves on the planet while our country is running out of oil, our population is increasing and demand is growing. Gas prices are still near record highs and oil company profits have reached levels never seen in history. Folks may not be able to connect all the dots due to having to work longer hours with less time off, they know they have been conned and they don't like it. So if Pelosi and the Democrats can't or won't make nice with enough Republicans to cut off the funding for continued military operations let alone kill the troop surge, like gasoline prices, resistance is going to increase and the sitrep on the ground in the United States is going to turn very, very ugly over the next two years. Get it? Got It? Good!
