Poor Mitt Romney

Posted: Thursday, May 03, 2007 7:01 PM by Hardball

Poor Mitt Romney - actually he's anything but poor given the money he raised; he may never be commander in chief, but he's fundraiser in chief. Anyway, he has to flip on issues without the benefit of a safety net like 9/11 for Giuliani or McCain's national security record. In 1994, when he lost a senate race to Ted Kennedy, he said he was more strongly for gay rights than Kennedy was. Now he's against them. He said he was pro-choice; now he's pro-life. Kennedy was right during their debate: Romney isn't pro-choice -- he's "multiple choice."

I think that Mitt Romney is an honest man. He changed from pro-choice to pro-life based on experiences in his life and intelligently reviewing the issue. He is not anti-gay as much as he is pro-marriage. We need to be tolerant of gays, but we can not afford to further destroy the institution of marriage which is a foundation of our society and an enormous benefit and protection for our children.
How in the world can the G.o.p. represent America with a field of all old white men.....
You live by the sword, you die by the sword. Mitt Romney helped campaign against Kerry, reinforcing Kerry's flip-flopping image in 2004. How will Mitt Romney avoid looking like a flip-flopping Massachusetts patrician in this election?
So are Democrats for flip flopping or against it????
don
Romney's Mormonism is a crucial issue, just as Kennedy's Catholicism should have been. Browse "cardinal spellman" My Mormon family fled west to California to protect their daughters. The ship they came on prohibited polygamy on board for a reason, despite Joseph Smith's personal tendency.
Mitt Romney is no more honest than the Pope is Mormon. Mitt's 'conversion' from pro-choice to pro-life happened over the short period of a few years after he was a grown man, having been raised with religious views all his life. The pro-choice views held sway when he was running for office in Mass, the pro-life ones came when he decided to run for the GOP nomination. And how, pray tell, does excluding a whole group of people who value and seek the benefits of marriage damage the institution?
