Dear Mr.Matthews,

I love your show and happy tenth anniversary.
I  am glad to see you have  the clip today of your visit to the Daily Show last night
with Jon Stewart. It was fantastic. It was so so funny. It was a great
interview with him playing Hardball with you. You had the grace and the
quick witted sense of humor to hang in there with him   I hope you do have
Jon Stewart on Hardball. This interview from last night was great
entertainment and worthy of sharing with your viewers.

Sincerely,

Adelaide Leigh Cleere
Sunnyvale, CA

Man Chris, you got served.  Jon Stewart kicked your butt without even trying.  Mr. "Hardball" was whining like a little girl. If you can't take light criticism like that, maybe you should just rename your show to "Softball"... HA!
chris, you did great on the daily show...   don't trip...    it's a comedy, and i laughed just wacthing you guy go in circles...
Chris: this may have been the "interview from hell". However, already 4 people on Amazon actually commented that they would buy the book because of it.  I guess it's going to work out after all. Also, it seemed Jon Stewart actually cared enough about you to rgue the premise of your book. Most of the times, the end of shows interview are "fluff".
Chris you are the man...
the man with the plan.

Everywhere on TV
you're the only one I see.

On the road with a book tour
You're set'n up a monster score

On the book tour you never sound like a wonky dirge
You almost pulled off the "Full Ginsburg."

These politicos surely put you to the test
In the back and forth you are the best!

The last ten years have never been the bore
Congrats to you, and wish'n you, another ten more!
Chris, Thanks to my two favorite TV guys for being so genuine in that absolutely stellar nterview. I've replayed it about 6X. I can't wait to see what you have to say about it this afternoon. Oh...and I'll definitely be buying your book, both in print and as an audio download. Thanks for your integrity day after day on Hardball.
Finally a book review that was honest and straight forward. I think both Chris and John are very intelligent people, but must side with John on this one. Must say Chris took it like a man, and remember he will have many shows which will hail his book as outstanding.
Jon Stewart is not afraid of your book. He was challenging the premise. It looks like Chris Matthews can't play "hardball."

It was an excellent, honest interview, rarely seen on television.
The book is great, Jon was trying to get under Chris's skin like Tucker, but Chris is not going to have it.
With that campaign Matthews wins, Stewart looses.

Stewart embarrassed himself with such a rude interview.  It was sad to see America’s funny man in politics turn on an ally.  Did anyone think it was ironic that used the interview to mention his fear of fascism while denouncing one of liberty’s subtle heroes?
I enjoyed your interview.  Although I can understand John's point I really thought it was splitting hairs which made it so funny.  I think you should understand though that John Stewart doesn't do the media show thing anymore after Tucker Carlson on Cross-Fire.  I would enjoy him on Hardball if John Stewart was comfortable with it.  But again I understand his philosophy of keeping himself a comedian and not become what he reports on.
Chris-
Grace under fire!
I was very disappointed in Jon's rude interview (where was the comedy?).  I have seen him be polite and funny with nearly every guest--no matter how trivial their book; and was let down with the way he treated you.  I'm buyin' the book!
Keep up the great work and the great shows.  Here's to another 10 more years of Hardball.
Hey Chris,

I'm a Daily Show watcher. Have been for years. I saw your interview last night and although Jon didn't agree with the premise, I found it compelling. I plan to buy the book and appreciate Jon's honesty. I guess all press is good press.
Book writers appear on The Daily Show and understand it is satire, so they trade the maximized exposure from the popularity of the show with the needling from Stewart. When he asked Jon Stewart to appear on "Hardball", it was an uncomfortable but telling television moment when the bully wanted to take the fight to his own backyard. Why would Jon Stewart, a comedian, do Hardball?

Matthews apparently doesn't understand this form of entertainment, or infotainment, and as a result he ended up being the punchline.

More importantly though, the premise of the book is a bit disturbing. Like he fixes his hair before he goes on camera, Chris Matthews suggests fixing your life 'to succeed'. To win the campaign. The message is 'fake it to make it'. I wonder where the Christian right lines up on this kind of moral trade-off. This candidate's base likely sees now that this emperor has no clothes.

And I'll add, appears quite weak outside his backyard.
Chris --

I believe Jon Stewart opened his show last night with an olive branch to you, and later, took a drubbing from Ted Koppel over his treatment of you, and he took it respectfully.  I agree with other posters... Stewart is entitled to put forward his point of view (and is cherished for it).  There's no question that you both are incredibly valuable resources for those seeking clarity in these troubled times.  I hope you both see fit to meet again.
I'm a huge Daily Show fan, but this time Jon Stewart was just over the top.  It's like he was channeling Bill O'Reilly or something.
The above comments want to distinguish between political review (Hardball) and comedy (Daily Show).  I guess they don't realize that both are carefully structured entertainments.  That's what US "news" shows do.  They entertain, i.e., keep viewership up.  That's the bottom line, the precise point of "Life Is A Campaign"...winning.  Why else would anyone be in a 2-shot with Anne Coulter and claim that she's written a powerful book?  Stewart's zingers got laughs, but like all comedy, only because they had strong elements of hard truth in them.  No one above, and certainly not you, Chris, understood why Stewart called it a sad book.  It's sad, because in your winning way, you have captured exactly the driving element, not only of US poltics but also of US culture.  Anne Coulter's a success.  So was Heidi Fleiss.
