What Biden needs to say

Posted: Monday, November 05, 2007 8:07 PM by Cathy Finkler

“Hardball's” Chris Matthews, a former speech writer, offered his advice to Sen. Joe Biden on what he should say to rank higher in the polls. Read his suggested speech.

Matthews spent 15 years in politics, working in the White House for four years under President Jimmy Carter as a Presidential speechwriter, as the top aide to Speaker of the House Thomas P. "Tip" O'Neill, Jr. for six years and in the U.S. Senate for five years on the staffs of Senator Frank Moss (Utah) and Senator Edmund Muskie (Maine).

I like Biden.  I also like these speeches you write, chris.  I can see why Carter hired you.
I do think Biden will do well in Iowa.  and speaking of:  268 republicans came out today to say they will caucus for Obama.  His ragtag army of supporters from all walks of life.
Also, just so you know.  Nancy Pelosi came out today against Hillary's little drama this past week.
Like most self respecting democratic women, she thinks  Hillary is wrong.  I do too.
Biden has for some time now been saying and doing the right things with respect to foreign policy. Unfortunately it is the mainstream media that has turned its back on that message. Apparently it is more important to talk about UFO's and haircuts than about serious foriegn policy issues and the incompetence of Republicans on almost every issue. Maybe it is Matthews that should change his priorities not Biden who should change his message.
I couldn't agree more with this.  Biden is the one democratic candidate with legitamite experience to lead at this moment in time.  His thoughtful, reasoned and serious approach to the rest of the world is what is most needed. I think he would be the toughest dem for the R's to demogogue.  Biden/Obama '08!!!
Senator Biden has basically said this over and over already.  However, it is the media that does not cover his campaign like the so called top tier candidates that causes his message not to be heard, Chris Matthews included.  Given him equal time as you do Clinton and Obama and maybe the voters will be enlightened.
Joe Biden was the only candidate to mention Pakistan in last week's debate.  He has the vision to see the big picture.  When is the main stream media going to give him his due, and stop concentrating only on the top 3 - who don't have much to say at all.
Once again well done.  Maybe he will use it like Hillary did.  Read "Life's a Campaign" over the weekend, great book.
Sen. Joe Biden should be the next president of the United States.  It is a shame that the media, by constantly highlighted the top three canidates keeps the focus on them.  All the polls do not include independent voters who would never vote for Hill & Bill.  Since Joe doesn't get the free media coverage he will not rise in the polls due to lack of money.  So the best canidate for the US will continue to be blacked out.  Why not have the college tours again?  If we have another president who needs on the job training it may do us in.
