I think Sen. Biden is right. McCain doesn't know what the hell is going on or how to fix it. He only knows how to attack Sen. Obama. When his in the White House McCain and Palin are still going to blame Sen. Obama. Grow up McCain.

As Joe Biden intimates, I don't think McCain has a clear idea of how he wants to enact policy changes or even of his views on certain topics. He strikes me as a man used to deciding things (even critically important ones) by "flying by the seat of his pants." I teach 8th grade math and science at the Alternative Learning Center of Austin ISD in TX. Even my students have commented on McCain's lack of understanding of the common man. Barack Obama consistently demonstrates that he can ENVISION the change he wants to bring to the American people; that he has given much thought to the details of that vision. I teach my students to envision themselves as a success, academically, re: behavior and character, as productive citizens both of the classroom and society. If their vision lacks direction or focus (as McCain's seems to), success is much further from their grasp. My 8th graders have commented that they feel McCain often acts and speaks with the emotional maturity of a sulking, petulant child who isn't getting his way (like the 'measuring the curtains' for the White House comment). Yes, even my 8th graders see in McCain what they often fail to recognize in themselves. Truly successful people ENVISION themselves in the context of success, at a very deep level. This is what Obama is doing with the flags in the background, etc. The culture of poverty in the US is often hidden by the material trappings of the the poor (image is EVERYTHING when you have nothing, so look like you have more than you do - thus "bling-bling"). ENVISIONing himself as president, and providing the American public with a VISUAL is, according to my students, part of being presidential. In a similar way, you can't do right by the American people if you can't SEE how they're struggling to survive. You can't fix most problems without having some reasonable idea of how the problem arose in the first place. McCain seems to focus often on how to lower people's estimation of Barack Obama, instead of how to reach the REAL American people. I don't think McCain thought the race card would be an issue. I do think he was embarassed at the cultural ignorance of his constituency (the Arab comment the other day).

I worry about Gov Palin's attitude that paying our taxes is not patriotic. Would she be surprised to learn that it takes tax money to support our country and her state?
I am appalled by Palin's lack of ethics. I wonder why Alaskans are willing to issue the report and have made no indication that they will at least censure her.
I worry about Todd Palin's access and use of Gov Palin's office -- doesn't it concern Alaskans?

Chris, I do not understand why the media, and others will not go hard on McCain-Palin, and their camp about the ugly racial slurs coming form the mcCain camp.

I am an Independence voter, who is also a born again Christian, I was born in Amercia, but my husband was not. My child is in college and she has an africian name. Does that disqualify my child to be the president of America? Will they judge her because her father is from a muslin country?

McCain boost himself about their adoption of a child from overseas, though we do not see much of her. They same argument he is using against Obama,could be used against his daughter's children if they want to be president of usa.

As a Christian, the Bible says, God is the just (Judge) of all the earth. He gave us His (law), and we (all) have sinned against His law, and deserve (hell). He offered us His Son for forgiveness if we (choose) to believe Him.

Now the republicains, and Christians argue the abortion issue, choosing to single a (choice) made by a women.

This is my postion on that issue as a Christian: God is Judge, we broke His law, God did not choose to send us to hell. He gave us His Son. So changing judges or laws do not stop people from during evil things. And if God did not condemn us, but made another way for us. Then should not we do the same for others who do not obey God. Let God judge them not us.
Any Christian that say when a life begins, then they should read Jeremiah 1:5. God told Jeremiah, before I formed you in the belly I knew you.

According to the Bible a life begins in the mind of the Almighty God.

It disturbs me when pundits and analysts now want to praise the "real" McCain for standing up to one person at a town hall for calling Obama an Arab.
This morning, Andrea Mitchell stated we can't blame Sarah Palin for her remarks. "She's only doing what she's been told to do."`
The bottom line is: They are both responsible for what they say and do. They can't have it both ways and the Voter should not be told otherwise.
If McCain is not the one responsible for his campaign, then we don't want him responsible for this country. If he is in charge of his campaign, then the direction it has taken has also proven he is not fit for the office. Either way...no excuses.

Obama has not been as mean and ugly as McCain or Palin. They are trying to destroy Obama's character. Not with honest facts, but dishonest and mean dirty lies. Americans need to be better than this. People say they are worried about Obama, yet Palin has be fround GUILTY of abuse of power. Something that she preaches about stopping. Yeah right.

The fact that you are backing supporting, in love with someone for a president that isn't even a natural born citizen is a big joke. What of the Federal court case against Obama? You never mentioned that. Won't that be very embarrassing for you if you have to brodcast on your show that you supported a non natural born citizen for president?

I've go to say that I love Joe Biden. I didn't really know much about him until Obama picked him for his VP and was, frankly, extremely disappointed Obama didn't pick Hillary. Biden has my full support now, though.

On another topic, I'm wondering how accurate the polls are with young voters. All the young people I know only have cell phones - no land lines. Do they poll people on cell phones?

Chris, I've been so impressed with Senator Biden, first in Scranton and on the news. I'm also so dismayed about the insulting (to voters too)
mud slinging from the McCain campaign. John McCain is so busy trying to get elected for the sake of being elected that he doesn't stand for anything anymore.

I'm wondering if anyone is going to address the validity of the Sydney Schanberg article - is it valid or not? I think this is something that voters have a right to know about and hear discussed by those who would be qualified to weigh in. This is haunting to those of us who were around back then. I am really glad to have the Obama Biden ticket as for President and Vice President. I think they will do an amazing job together.
I just wonder why McCains relationships are not brought up by the campaign such as his association and friendship with Gordon Liddy who is a convicted domestic terrorist. Liddy previously had a fundraiser for McCain. Why is this relationship not talked about?

I was again impressed with Senator Biden's comments. On another topic...I have been at an Obama event in Detroit. No signs were allowed through the gates to control what was printed by those attending. The McCain side keeps saying they have no control over the signs (eg. "Obama Bin Lying'") that have appeared at his rallies. Obviously they approve of the signs and comments from those attending or they could confiscate the signs at the gate also.

You are correct. You see LEADERS have a good measure of control over what their followers/supporters say and do....at least in the LEADERS presence. I heard a McCain supporter/Former Bush 1 staffer say in a VERY angry tone that McCain has no control over the "bad manners" of people who attend his events. Bad manners that include shouts of "treason, and kill him". If he can't exert a reasonable measure of control over those who ardently support him, how can he control anything? His rallies are starting to look more like Klan rallies than anything becoming the office of the presidency. This is why John Lewis was so vocal, and it is true what Joe Biden says. I believe that John McCain is frankly embarrassed by the behavior and ignorance of some of the folks in attendance, and really wants no part of this kind of campaign. The saddest part is that he hasn't taken the bull by the horns...Isn't it his campaign? Perhaps the Maverick has been tamed.

Senator Biden has it right. McCain is bi-polar...I do believe. Throughout the McCain/Palin "Shock and Awe" campaign, he has shifted agendas, slogans, ideas, and attacks. He and his "soulmate" have brought racisim back to life. Created a mob mentality within the Republican party, and who knows what other tricks he has up his sleeve before the election takes place. It is not only unstable, it is DANGEROUS.

I think Joe Biden's comment on "patriotic" tax-paying referred to the abomination of high earners putting billions of dollars in off-shore accounts to avoid paying their fair share of taxes. Those tax dollars should be used to help support our infrastructure and maintain a balance in the taxation system. Governor Palin is NOT a viable candidate, in my opinion. Should McCain have chosen a better running mate, I might have considered him more seriously.

I am a small business owner with four employees. You can call me Joe the Roofer. After listening to all of Joe the Plumbers comments, No.1 he is not rich yet and No.2 he is hoping to buy a plumbing business worth $280K. He believes Obama is going to tax him extra because his future small business will be worth more than 250K. Take a business course before you buy that business Joe because if you don't understand that you are only taxed on net income not gross sales or your balance sheet then you are starting off on the wrong foot. Do you really believe McCain’s plan of continued trickle down economics is going to help your future small business? Say it aint so Joe say it aint so. As a small business owner of 18 years I am excited of the prospects of Obama's plans. Finally some real tax relief for me and other small businesses... the heart of America. Not the Fortune 500!
