Chris Shays whines about how ready the Republicans are for bi-partisanship in the war on terror, when they have told the Democrats repeatedly to sit down and shut up since the coronation of the Idioy-in-Chief six years ago. At the very least they've waived their right to act indignant about it when the Democrats don't clear their proposals through the RNC(the people who are actually in charge of their agenda).

Politics of the stock market, the Taliban's influence and more

hey chris,

Washington's love for freedom to justify support for sending troops to the middle-east, and then thinking how our military personnel are going from house to house in Bagdad, the valleys in Afghanastan and perhaps one day the territory of Iran to find the bad guys, I realize that GW may be right on one issue. It is similar to the Amercian Revolution. We are playing the part of the mighty, unbeatable British Army fighting in a far off land and walking single file down country lanes in bright red coats. The terrorist are playing the part of those lowly scoundrels the American Revolutionaries, fighting on their own turf, camouflaged as regular citizens and hiding behind doorways, trees, hills and other hiding places picking off the red coats one at a time. Perhaps there is a lesson to be leaned by comparing the two Mr. Bush.

Politics of the stock market, the Taliban's influence and more

Seymour Hersh is an excellent observer, and Debbie W. Schultz has her political facts in order, but both have been blind-sided by their own indignation over the Bush administration's bungling of foreign policy. Like the Bush administrators, they cannot see that the terrorists do not pose the KIND of threat to us that they pose to Europe. "Islamofascism" may not conquer Europe, or occupy Europe, but it will surely BURY Europe, because European culture is weak and worn out. Ours, however, is still flexible. Neither Hersh, Schultz or your other guest, Christopher Shays, pointed out the difference. But Bill Richardson did, the other day on your show.
Creative thinking is worrisome to the nationalists here, whether they are Republican or Democratic, but it is still characteristic of the American people. We cannot be destroyed by incendiary zombies ..... unless we try to defeat them by becoming incendiary zombies instead of by being ourselves. That's THEIR game. Goliath was beaten by David, not by another monster.
A medical analogy -- There is a certain microbe that infests nursing homes, and critical care wards, against which the elderly and ailing have no real defense and they quickly die from it ..... but this same microbe is not particularly effective against younger persons, whether ill or healthy.
It would have cost 250 thousand dollars to have assassinated Saddam Hussein. Instead, the government has spent 250 billion -- and achieved less.

Politics of the stock market, the Taliban's influence and more

Edmund: I fear you are correct. I fear for our friends in Europe. They are so vulnerable based on those conditions you alluded too. And perhaps even a larger problem I fear. The countries in South America that we ignore and who are always ripe for upheavel, terrorist growth and activity. If Chavez and other persons like him in this part of the world grow in strength, influence and comraderie with what you refer to as the Islamofascism movement, we are facing very serious problems. Our very own culture is changing dramtically because those from poor socio-ecomnic regions want to improve their lot. So they come to the United States and we try to integrate them into our society, but with diffciulty. And at times there are back-lash movements opposing or demanding we stem such migration, but they have little effect. Your reference to being "buried" is the right term. Such persons do not need to conquer us whether from an Islamic state or from a country south of our border, or in combination. They will, in time, if we ignore creative thinking, bury us. Do you recall Krushev stating that the United States need not fear a Russian attack for the United States will in the end defeat itself from within. He predicted that we would become incendiary zombies, lost in our own selfishness, foolishness, loss of morals and principles, and our belief that we cannot be touched. We need to gather our wisest before it is too late, to plan for all contingencies in the future, and to develop strategies that will allow the United States to remain successful as a free democratic society, with strength, honor, diversity, diplomacy and that encoruages and rewards creative thinking.

Politics of the stock market, the Taliban's influence and more

I'm all for supporting the troops, but this parade of officials visiting the military bases just adds to the danger they face. My gosh girl, you can't even get elected President unless you are able to spend millions. And yes, one way to destroy a country is to ruin its economic stability. So yes, world stability is controled by money. No, I don't think someone was trying to send Bush a message. Most of the world by now realizes that Bush is just not capable of analyzing messages let alone listening to them if he were capable of analyzing them. In fact, as Bush never reads newspapers, unless one of aides was smart enough to let him know, he probably was not even aware there was a recent decline in the stock market.

Politics of the stock market, the Taliban's influence and more

Perhaps the market is taking a hit because the people are just beginningto find out what the republicans, who have had 12 years control of the congress and 6 years control of the senate and white house, are really about, they love to wrap themselves in the flag but the soldiers - who are only just cannon fodder to the republicans - if they can't make a buck by selling arms to start illegal wars for the soldiers to fight in they aren't worth looking after, maybe the congress should be asking if the contractor who is cleaning up building 18 is the same as the contractor who was responsible for the police barracks in Bagdad. And while someone is asking questions maybe they could slap that Coulter female in the teeth, boy she's a bitch.

Politics of the stock market, the Taliban's influence and more

Regarding Mr. Hersh's piece on the administration's actions in Iran. Seymour is the only journalist besides Dana Priest lately who deserves the title of Ms. or Mr.. G.B. wanted Saddam's pistol on the W. H. wall so bad that they didn't even consider that they were removing the only buffer to a Shiite crescent, I'm surprised slightly that the Israelis didn't remind them. So when a gentleman of jewish persuasion (Hersh) tells you, the arms dealers are doing it again, I think you can probably believe it.
It's too bad about Cheney's blood clot - too bad it's not in his brain - this administration should all be in the Hague facing war crimes charges, but I forgot, that's what they have Gonzales for, isn't it,
to protect their asses.
