Just viewed the Hardball Obama show. Very disappointing. Just call it SOFTBALL! Sure not the tough questions with strong followup that Chris Matthews is know for on this show. OK it is clear Matthews is endorsing Obama rather than acting as a serious objective interviewer.

I'm curious as to why Obama was not pressed more on his mischaracterization of McCain's comments about maintaining a troop presence in Iraq. Was this simply fawning in order to have him back for another visit? One would think that his characterizing McCain as saying that he wanted a "permanent occupation" would be called out immediately when it was clear from the context of the speech that he as comparing Iraq to another Germany, Japan, or South Korea (none of which countries anyone would consider currently "occupied" despite a maintained troop presence). Hardly the vigorous journalism I would expect from the Hardball of yore.
